GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR CASES
[accordion tag=h3 clicktoclose=”true”]
[accordion-item title=”Q1: Will my sword/saber fit in your case?”] We measure the entire length of the saber. From the tip of the blade to the end of the handguard. Our standard cases fit sabers with a total length of 38 inches. Military members (taller than 6 feet 2 inches) who use the saber as part of a dress uniform may have sabers a little longer so we now make a “Big & Tall” case that gives an extra 2 inches (total length up to 40 inches). We do not make a Big & Tall double case. We do not make cases for sabers greater than 40” long.[/accordion-item]
[accordion-item title=”Q2: How do I know which profile swivel I need?”]Before we send you to the YouTube video that gives you this answer, you need to know that our cases will fit all U.S. military saber/sword types made in the last 60 years. We have made cases for international and Civil War era swords, but recommend you call us to make sure.
Besides the length discussed in Question 1 above, you will need to make a decision on how the sword/saber is mounted. This is dependent on if the sword has a handguard or not. This YouTube video gives a visual demonstration on how to make this decision.[/accordion-item]
[accordion-item title=”Q3: How do I “Build” a case on your website?”]When you get into the product page for your case there are many selections and options for you to decide on. We have three types of hardwoods (red oak, cherry and walnut), 5 velvet back colors or 3 hardwood backs.
We’re excited to give you a visual picture through our website that reflects different choices that you make in the selection process. This allows you to see different combinations of wood and velvet choices before you buy. If you have any questions, please call us.

[accordion-item title=”Q4: I already have a wooden item at home that I want to match with your wood. Can you do that?”]Short answer: no. Long answer: We use Minwax brand “Provincial” stain on all of our products. This is in-between a medium and a dark walnut color. Our three different American hardwoods each react differently to yield natural variations in color between the species, and between different batches of the same species.
Walnut is our darkest color of wood and within walnut are lighter and darker variations.
Cherry has a little variation in color, but is famous for its red tones, similar to a mahogany color. As cherry ages, it reacts to UV radiation, and darkens to a deeper red.
Red oak has natural light and dark tones but overall is our lightest color wood.
So, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that our product will match items that you already own. However, we do make several products that complement each other as long as you select the same wood type (i.e. saber case, mini case, etc.)
That said, if you really have your heart set on matching an item, send us the stain that you want used and pay a 25% custom fee. Please understand that there are still variations in color, so we still can’t guarantee an exact match. Once we do this, you have bought the product and there is no refund. We have done this successfully a couple of times. This cannot be done online, so you will need to call us.[/accordion-item]

QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR OPTIONS
[accordion tag=h3 clicktoclose=”true”]
[accordion-item title=”Q5: What is a double plate and why do I want/need it? “]Firstly, a double plate is simply twice the width of our single standard plate. The actual measurements are 9” x 2”.
We recommend you order a Double Plate for several situations:
1) Because you want to
2) You want more than one graphic (i.e. a school logo and a class crest, or a special graphic for a club or program).
3) The saber case is for/from two people, (i.e. a gift from two cadets to a sponsor or family member or to commemorate a wedding).
4) Your message is very long. Remember, there is no word limit! Also, when you order a single plate, and give us the message you want, we will design a proof and email it to you. If at that time you decide your wording does not fit nicely in a single plate, you can switch to a double one.
The following YouTube link explains all of the Engraving Options, and the double plate is covered there. Click Here

[accordion-item title=”Q6:What is a Wood + Metal Plate?”]Short answer: Very classy .
Long answer: We designed this combination to showcase the natural beauty of a laser engraving on wood with the clarity of black type on a silver or gold background. For example, we will laser a class crest or school crest and a school name directly into the wood and then laser a name or message on a metal plate below the school name. This is a very distinctive presentation. You can see samples of this option on our website in the Products Section. Once you select a product, scroll to the bottom and you can see the engraving options.
A final note: Although Oak is laserable, the variable grain causes a difference in laser depth. Walnut and Cherry laser at a consistent depth. We personally think Cherry and Walnut wood engravings look better than Oak.
You can see the “lovely” Mary explaining the different options in this YouTube video.

[accordion-item title=”Q7: I already have a case; I only need an engraving. Can I order that separately?”]Yes! Just go to our Product Catalogue and look at the side bar titled Engravings R Us. There you will find everything you need to order a separate engraving.
If you bought a case from someone else (what were you thinking?!) or you made your own case (we admire you, that’s how we got our start), you may need to send us photos so we can determine the size of your plate. If this is your situation, leave us a note and your phone number in the spot where you write the message you want engraved, and we can chat.

[accordion-item title=”Q8: What if I buy a case without glass and later decide that I want to add it?”]There are a couple of different ways we can do this.
1) Ship the case back to us (per our instructions and in the original shipping box) and we will install the glass and ship it back to you. Of course, you are paying for shipping both ways, but this insures that it is done correctly.
If you don’t have the original shipping box, you will need to have it professionally packed, or we can sell you a shipping box that we will ship to you.
2) We can sell you the brass corners that we use to attach the glass ($15 plus shipping). Then, you go to a glass store in your area and have them cut you a piece of glass and have the edges “heavy seamed” to set on top of the case. This smooths the edges so no one gets hurt if they touch or handle it. We will send you instructions for installing the glass, as when the corners are screwed into the case, you should take care not to drill through.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SHIPPING
[accordion tag=h3 clicktoclose=”true”]
[accordion-item title=”Q9: What do all the Shipping Options mean? It’s confusing!”]CONUS – This is shipping to any location in the Continental US. It includes a sturdy shipping box that you can reuse when moving. It also includes insurance, and is a flat rate. Our primary carrier is FedEx Ground.
NOTE: If you want to ship to Hawaii or Alaska, please call us for prices and options.
APO/FPO – We will ship your purchase(s) to a Military Post Office Box at an overseas US military base. This also comes with a reusable shipping box and insurance. We use the US Postal system for this method.
NOTE: DO NOT put the saber in the case and then travel with it! We know from personal experience that the sword will move around and damage the saber case.
If you are flying, pack the saber carefully in your checked baggage. If driving, pack it separately from your case.
Whew! It’s a lot to digest, but if you are still confused, by all means, call us at 800-984-2160, and we will try not to complicate things any further.
[/accordion-item]
[accordion-item title=”Q10: Do you ship international? “]
We have, but it is very expensive. We recommend that if you know someone who has an APO/FPO in that country, that you have it sent to them. This is not an option on our website, and if you want us to do it, you will need to call us to coordinate this.
For international cadets who have a paid shipment home, order your case early enough to make it into your shipment. We know that most shipments are made well before graduation. You will need to buy the shipping box from us, so that when your case is packed in a crate, it is afforded extra protection. We recommend that you don’t add glass to your case if it is going to be put into a shipping container, as there is a high risk of breakage.
You can always buy a piece of glass and have it put on at your destination. See Question 8 for more about adding glass.
